The Jackster

I know most everyone knows we have a dog, but since I am going to be getting rid of our webpage through doodlekisses.com I thought I'd post something here about Jack. Jack is our crazy beast of 15 months. He just turned 2 years old on June 14, 2009. We get comments that he looks like a Portugese Water Dog, Labradoodle and Poodle. His dad was pitch black so that's why he's black as well. He's about 60-65 pounds and stands about 32-36 inches tall. He's extrememly mischieveous, but loves to be loved on. He's an F1B Goldendoodle - which means his dad is pure poodle and his mom is an F1 Goldendoodle. Therefore, he essentially doesn't shed! We had originally rescued a border collie/husky mix and it was a disaster. After 5 months of working with this dog we ended up returning her to the rescue society and were dead set against ever having another dog. However, my mom's friend, Joy, believes that every family should have a dog and set out to find the perfect breed for us. She called my mom one day and was ecstatic to inform her that she had found the breed for us! Her daughter-in-law, Pam was breeding Goldendoodles and we should check them out. We waited for about 3 years, keeping up a correspondence the whole time and then finally decided it was high time we got a dog before Sugar (Jack's mom) was retired. Joy flew to Colorado to do the puppy temperament testing and we crossed our fingers that she would pick Mozart (Jack's original name). We finally got the call that he would be the perfect choice for us and we drove to Wenatchee where we met Joy and picked up our little fuzzy 8 week bundle of love. Jack has been a joy to train and have as part of our family. We completed classes with him at the Canine Behavior Center here in Seattle with the goal of working towards agility and getting some help with smoothing out Jack's rough edges. ;-) We are hoping to do an off-leash class this fall with the Humane Society. Jack loves to backpack, go for walks, is learning to enjoy water, playing with his best friend Olive and going to Camp Happy Paws doggy daycare/boarding.
